back to school

a few things i learnt in the holidays:
-my hair is long enough to get bed hair now
-you can make a 3D donut out of paper

it also flattens. it took me about 5 hours to do this, 3 to cut all the pieces and 2 to assemble. here's the link

i also started watching the voice. it's amazing, mainly because all the people that audition have already gone through a process to get to the auditions and theyre all quite good. some have been back up vocalists for famous artists or have been the leads in some musicals. my favourites:

i know this sounds quite annoying, but its very close to the original and it's a very hard song to sing because of how different it is. at first i was very frightened, especially viewing both versions of the original song, but now it's my favourite song =]

my gosh her voice is amazing. for an 18year old it sounds soooo mature.

she is only 18 as well! O_O

not a favourite, but i really liked how he sang this song and i needed to add a guy in here so its not all just girls =]

i also learned that waking up at 5am is annoying. dark. and very very cold.
but it was worth it, prefects had to go to the anzac dawn service at 6am at castle hill. very interesting experience and i actually wouldn't mind doing it again. anything for those who sacrificed their lives for australia.
after that, castle hill rsl was giving out free breakfasts. as you can imagine it was a long line and the food wasn't that great, but good on them, they must have made a terrible loss.

after that i went to kenneths place in the arvo and discovered that the cakes the guys made were both burnt and raw, we thought there was enough to salvage so we just left it.

then i saw the avengers! that was amazing you must see it indeed. i saw it in 3D because on the first two or so weeks they always shove everything in 3D and then the majority of the screenings in vmax or goldclass but yay we got the normal cinemas so we didnt have to pay as much.

i still hold my belief that the 3D effects need to be done better but the movie itself was very good and very epic. it'd be amazing if they were able to get the rights back so they could include spiderman, xmen and fantastic four in it but yeh.

anyway we went back to kenneths house and cut the cake open only to realise that everything was raw in the middle. so kenneth cut up the cubes and made a cake salad.....

.................

.....................

yeh i don't know wat to say either.

then me and phammie made another cake in one hour, it was like masterchef- SOOOO HECTIC and then had a delightful japaense/korean dinner at asadal

also for diwans birthday i made a wafer and mnm cake:

it was extremely sweet and extremely rich and yeh... very tall.
my mum described it as a fortress and my bro asked why it was so epic.
took me like the whole morning to make it from around 9.30 or 10 up until 1.30

oh right, exam marks:
-english 19/20 extremely happy with that
-4u 47/70 quite happy because it's an improvement from last year's 59%
-3u 61/70 extremely happy i got less than 10 marks wrong
-phys 59/75 not really happy with this one
-chem 67/80 extremely happy

still awaiting ancient and english reading task. still awaiting if i want to drop ancient or not. still awaiting.

Holiday Life

A few things I forgot to mention last blog post.

McDavitt told us he's leaving because his wife got a job at Newcastle. That kind of sucks, he was a good teacher even though he never marked our essays. Anywhoozies we got him a mug that says "World's Laziest Teacher" and a mullet wig.

Boy the look of disappointment on his face. I heard he cried with his extension class... he seriously hates our class. Oh well, at least we get Arblaster full time now.

Sorry it's blurry. I couldn't stop laughing and he didn't want anymore photos.

Also, I forgot to talk about the Despicable Me 2 trailer! I love it, the minions are so cute and it's hilarious!

Ugh, the adorableness I can't handle!

So anyway, it was Easter and I decided to make hot cross buns!

And yes, I put chocolate in instead of sultanas and dried peel and all the other disgusting stuff that is typical in hot cross buns.

Oh I also watched some movies!

CHILDREN OF MEN:

THE PLOTLINE: In the slightly near future, the world is ridden of children because women have gone infertile. The youngest human on the planet, 18 years old and something months and days has been shot and everyone gets all worried. Then comes along some woman who is pregnant and she needs to be taken to a safe place so scientists can stick probes in her and see how she managed to get pregnant and possibly cure infertility.

THE MOVIE: This movie is amazingly directed. The scenes and props were created so well, it looked so realistic. The camerawork was crazy, there were so many one-take scenes that lasted a few minutes long. It did a good job in drawing you in, it was insanely intense. The story line is good too even though it was based off a book and the acting was good.

THE VERDICT: This movie has to be watched.

------

NO STRINGS ATTACHED:

THE PLOTLINE: These two people who have met sporadically before during high school and college bump into each other yet again as adults. After a hectic episode of drinking and long shifts at the hospital, they end up having sex without the intimacy of a relationship- purely for pleasure and a break from the chaos of work and reality

THE MOVIE: This is quite funny, as you would expect a film with this story line would be. I don't really know what to say, you can kind of guess what happens (they fall in love and then start to worry about what they are doing). It's extremely similar to "Friends with Benefits" but I haven't seen that so I can't really compare this. Roger Ebert says "Friends with Benefits" is better. I did cry at one point of the movie though, but I cry at everything.

THE VERDICT: Watch it if you're not in the mood for a serious film and just want some casual laughs from a movie you'll probably never watch again.

------

THE LORAX:

THE PLOTLINE: It is the future and there are no living things around anywhere! All the trees and plants in this town are balloons, robots or devices for a random disco ball to pop up out of nowhere. Anyway, this boy wants to impress the love of his life and seeks out how to find a living tree to give to her because she loves trees getting her a tree automatically seals her affection for you. The only way to find out about trees is to visit the Once-ler, which the boy does. The Once-ler tells the story about his youth and the story of the Lorax and how the trees disappeared.

THE MOVIE: Ahh, well it IS a Dr. Seuss story so I can't say anything bad about it. The animation was good, the animals were so adorable and the storyline was good too. I think it was done quite well, I mean it IS aimed at like 2-year-olds so yeah. I supposed I would have liked a bit more narration and a bit more rhyming couplets thrown in everywhere but it was still very good.

THE VERDICT: It's quite good, but I'm not forcing you to watch it.

After watching the Lorax, Joyce, Pamela, Ying Ying, Alice and I had a day out at the city. We had the most ridiculously expensive yum cha at... I forgot where but it was so expensive. One serving of 4 har gow was like $7.50 (it was considered extra large). That was ridiculous. We ended up getting 3 things and it was like $34 (including tea which cost i think $2.50).

Anyway, after that Joyce and I went to the Titanic Exhibition at the Maritime Museum. It was only $7! But as I expected, it was that cheap because it was so small! They had so many cool model ships, I fell in love. On display was also some of the costumes in the film, some newspaper articles on the Titanic, all the names of the people on board, some artifacts they found, a few videos/documentaries that were too boring to watch and a 'Behind the Scenes' that anyone could probably just watch on youtube.

I took a lot of photos so I can't be bothered sifting through them and putting the good ones here; I'll do that next time I promise.

Hmm, what else has been happening. Not much actually. The title implies I have some sort of life but I actually have been studying- I finished reading through and making Chem of Art notes (by the way Ace HSC is offering Baulko students free Chem of Art courses this year - if you want more information ask me and I'll send you the email), I am nearly finished with From Ideas to Implementations (just need the last section), I started Motion but i didn't understand what was going on so I stopped after simple harmonic motion and I'm doing Binomial Theorem right now.

To help me not stress out so much I started watching Community (already up to the third season). Originally I was going to watch Game of Thrones but after the first episode I was like, "Okay no. This sucks". Seriously, it's so weird and bizarre. Too much talking politics and not enough action. I mean it is semi-interesting, a little part inside of me wants to know what happens to all the characters but the other part is telling me that it's way too weird for me to find out.

But anyway yes, I love Community it's hilarious.

And I think that is all I have to say.

shave, ultrasound, hunger games

my oh my a lot has happened since i last blogged.

after getting my head shaved it's been REALLY COLD! and at first i kept thinking my hair was tied back, like when i went into the shower i kept feeling really weird because who goes in the shower with their hair tied up? and then i was soooo in tuned with my spidey sense, i could sense the cold, the breezes, the water. the water! when i showered i could feel the water drip down my scalp it was sooo super weird! and when i exercise theres no hair to trap the sweat so theres soooooo much dripping going on!

also i went to the doctor once because my left breast was stinging and hurt when i touched it with a bit of pressure. then she felt this lump in my right one and i had to get an ultrasound but ITS ALL GOOD chloe is fine =] i just have really dense glandular tissue there which is supposedly common in young teenage girls such as myself and that late turns into fat or something but yes.

now let's recap the exams!

tuesday was 4u.
i woke up at like 5am that morning and couldnt sleep at all then after getting out of bed and eating breakfast, i was changing into my school uniform then i suddenly felt like vomiting. i ran down to the bathroom and stood over the basin and kept gagging but nothing was coming out. later that day it was alright.

but yes, back to 4u it wasn't as hard as i thought it would be! i mean it WAS 4u so it was still hard, but i attempted the majority of questions so i'm quite pleased with myself. and i felt so sorry for the 2u people, i think it was so slack to them to have to continue the exam when all the 4u people are putting together their sheets and with ribbans talking to us =/ should have scheduled it another time.

wednesday was chem.
i again woke up at 4am but then went back to sleep after 5am but was still annoyingly tired. i can't really remember what the test was like but i did answer everything. i know i got a few questions wrong but oh well i think it was quite good. i never aim for top so yeh, watever.

thursday was ancient.
oh dear ancient. i spent a lot of the time leading up to the exam weeks just doing 4u, then chem phys and 3u were equally net in priority, so ancient was pretty much lowest priority (apart from english). although it wasn't too bad because they gave us a sheet for us to write notes for our essay, EXCEPT it was an essay based on our research and the one thing ive learnt in high school is that you can never successfully complete a research task for history. and i just wrote everything on my sheet so i dont even know how my essay answered the question. the other sections on mycenae were alright, they even told us which sections were being tested on so it was really not that bad.

ALTHOUGH i did come to the conclusion that i want to drop ancient. im like 99% there. the 1% is if like i failed at chem or phys, OR if i got like 100% for ancient which is very unlikely (the latter i mean). i really don't know how well i did for chem or phys but i rationalised:
-Ancient takes A LOT of time and mental energy.
-without ancient i'd have 6 more study periods to lay down maths, chem or phys and get better at those subjects.
-at home, writing ancient notes takes so long and this is while i still have tammy's notes to base my notes off
-the last few weeks i have been sleeping a lot in ancient
-even if i do badly at chem or phys, i don't really need a high high ATAR, since commerce is 94 or 96 or so i SHOULD be able to get that
-ancient is so interesting but SO stressful

anyway. friday was physics.
i thought i was quite prepared for this. the calculations seemed easy. i answered all the questions. then i realised there were quite a lot of troll questions. but oh well. i can't have done that bad.

sunday was a bad day. i woke up with my period and had such bad cramps. then i also vomitted a bit. my mum gave me panadol which she late regretted because i just woke up and didnt have any breakfast. then i vomitted that up later too. although the traditional chinese doctor thinks i have the flu or am starting to get the flu which explains my feeling of wanting to vomit on tuesday and she gave me some medicine and i've gotten much better. it was just plain annoying.

monday was 3u.
despite my lack of preparation and the terrible past papers, i think this was good. i answered everything which is unusual although i know for certain some weren't answered right, but oh well.

also was my mum's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her even though i told her in person. had the korean bbq for dinner =]

today was english and the last exam!
i wrote so much and i don't even know why. i wrote like 5 and a bit pages even though my writing was appalling. i just had no idea what the question was saying so i just wrote as much as i could in the hopes of answering the question! i really hope i did alright in that otherwise its like 5 pages for nothing.

but alas, half yearlies are over!!

so we went to celebrate! by watching THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!

it was quite good. very intense and emotional.

THE PLOTLINE: set in some distant future where north america is long gone after an apocalypse and now replaced by panem, where they have a wealthy capitol and 12 districts surrounding it. ages ago, the districts rebelled against the capitol and the 13th district was wiped out. now, as punishment, 2 representatives (tributes) comprising of one male and one female between 12 and 18 years old to participate in a televised show where the tributes fight to the death.

THE MOVIE: i think it was done quite well although i didn't read the books. it was very very emotional. when katniss volunteers to replace her sister as tribute (this is not a spoiler) i was crying so much, it was terrible. i didn't dislike anything about it, i was constantly going through fear, apprehension and deep sorrow, bawling my eyes out at various scenes (you will know which ones i am talking about if you watch it). I later wikipedia plotted it and found out so much they didnt get through, which is quite normal for a movie, but yeh, no background stories on the other tributes or anything. i was comparing this with battle royale as the hunger games got so much criticism on it being a rip off of battle royale, and i just didn't like it because battle royale focused on how other contestants died and their background stories and everything so you felt for everyone that was dying instead of just rooting for the main character. but oh well. it was good acting too.

VERDICT: go watch it!

and nowwwww, holiday to do list (not in order or priority)!
-game of thrones
-study: the rest of 3u, the next 4u topics, chem, phys, creative [yes, planning on leaving out study for ancient]
-draw!
-cook!<
-sleep!

Also, so far i've raised $3107.15 for the Leukemia Foundation, although one person needs to give me money lol.

TLDR:

my new favourite song, its in the credits of the hunger games (this was something that fueled my desire to watch it):
