Y is for Yearlies.

okay i know it's not quite yearlies, but what other word starting with y is there?

in the holidays i FINALLY finished the painting that i started way back in term 1 holidays! i didn't have any chance to continue during term 2 because of half yearlies and then there was masterchef and all this schoolwork so yeh i finally got to do it so here it is:

that's with the painting under light but here's one with FLASH:

the power of flash photography is truly amazing.

oh and i reckon the camera makes my painting look better lol it doesnt even look that good in real life. but i'm not complaining.

uhm i also saw fighter. that was pretty good. christian bale is such a great actor. this story is great cuz it shows you how some people can reach success but then they don't take hold of that opportunity and then from then on wards their life just plummets. and its also great in showing you how sometimes your success can be stunted by the people around you. like this guy's family is SOOOOOOOOO dysfunctional it's crazy and i relli relli felt so sorry for him.

but yes, it was a good good movie and very inspirational!

uhh today i also went to a soup kitchen at parra and that was pretty interesting. serving them food in the park out in the cold night.
it's really interesting seeing the behaviours of different people.
some are like relli grateful, some are relli stubborn and picky and only want this type of food and i look at them and think, "are they really in a position to be this picky?"

some of them aren't completely homeless, they just have very very hard times paying rent and stuff. some sleep in centres and some sleep in their cars.

uhm the guy said that different organisations come to the park every night, so you have like Vinnies, Stepping Stones (which is the one that ran tonight's one) and others going on different days during lunch, dinner or brekky.

yeh, it was relli interesting, and i relli wanna do this in the future as part of prefects.

X is for Xanadu

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree :
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.

"wow, what a random poem" is what you might be thinking and YES! it IS a random poem, but where did I get it from?

well firstly it's actually from the poem Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, but no i'm not an english freak so i didn't just so happen to know it or randomly google 'Kubla Khan'.

what i DID do was watch sanctum

^clicks for larger, cooler image and you will see that it is directed by james cameron!! =D yay.

it's a pretty good film. acting is a bit dodgy because there's a whole bunch of aussie people and then there's mr. fantastic (whom i disliked from the moment i saw him- too arrogant). yeh but there's aussie actors because the story is inspired by a true story, and they say inspired because the actual story is very different and it doesn't sound too great if you advertise it as "very very loosely based on a true story".

what's the true story? well these australian cave divers are...well diving through caves as they explore it and then a storm on the surface of the earth turns into a cyclone and starts flooding the cave so they have to find a different exit. the whole thing took about 30 hours and fortunately everyone survived.

what's the movie story? well, we can't have a boring plot like "they get caved in, everyone escapes". obviously a plot needs some people to die to make it to hollywood standards. oh and it's australian divers in a cave in Papua New Guinea, the Esa'ala Cave, which is the largest cave that has been explored, and it's not even fully explored, so some of it is undiscovered. once again, a storm turns into a cyclone and they have to find a way out. the film's tagline is "the only way out is down" so you can probably tell they have to like go deeper into the cave and what not to survive.

basically: it's pretty intense. wait, it's very intense. for me at least (because i can't really swim and i get terrified at the thought of crawling through very thin, claustrophobic tunnels). and also the directing just makes the australian actors look better than they would in actual australian films. oh and i watched it on bluray so that was like amazingly detailed.

yeh so go watch it! it's amazing!

oh right, i forgot. the poem is something that one of the divers keeps repeating to himself as he scubas, and if you read it again it is just SO fitting for the film.

so yes.

anyway let's stumble.

WAIT before we stumble, just saying that my bro invited me to google+ which is like the new fb, cept better because it's more user-friendly. it has 'circles' where you can put certain people in so when you post you can have just that circle see that post. my bro says its like having fb group pages without the fuss of creating a group. oh and there's also webcam chat like skype i think. but yes so i have an account with that and right now it's in its trial process so you can only get an account through invitation so if anyone wants an invitation ask me.

W is for Warm (not)

long time no blog.

the title because my hands are on the edge of being frostbitten as i type this up.

so on friday (last day of school) everyone had those weird paper thingos that was like a never ending folding square. so you kept like folding the sides to like reveal the... look it's really hard to explain but its basically like a card that you can just keep folding and its like a weird cyclical loop.

BUT THE POINT IS i looked at it and was like "hey i can make this" so i took it back home and i made it. and then i drew templates on the computer to make it easier for me (clicks for bigger):

yeh it makes a pretty interesting card.

oh yeah, saw transformers 3 on thursday, then had yum cha which was awesome.
but yes, transformers 3 is pretty good. special effects are seriously amazing. the first bit was sorta boring cuz i felt like they dragged it on for a very long time and there was like NO action until the end, but it was well worth the wait. although a bit chaotic, i'm always very appreciative of the hard work and effort that goes into making these sort of movies realistic (except the fact that bumblebee gets relli dirty but when he transforms into the car he is like...spotless...and that the girl's shoes change from flats to heels throughout and there's no way she could do all that action in heels).

but yes, very good movie. (Y)
