the time traveller's wife: book vs. movie
*sigh*... still the only better movie than its original book is lord of the rings. why is it that movies can never justify the books? is it because there is simply too much in the book to fit into the film? or is it the actors that don't seem to be able to grasp the actual characters? maybe it's the poor directing/editing/crew in general?

or maybe it's just because when we read the book, we imagine it in our own little way, and we imagine it so wonderfully because the book is so descriptive; everything about the style of hair to the spur-of-the-moment thoughts are made so known to us. i felt so disappointed watching the movie. i kept pointing out all the flaws and alterations to myself. the way he time traveled was different in the story, major events were different, major characters have been minimalised, the dialogue was significantly different, and even the last scene was just insanely different to that of the story.

sigh, but i'm a picky person, who is very hard to please. long story short: read the book before the movie ruins it for you. i cried reading the book, no such thing happened in the movie.

iron man 2
again, disappointment has no choice but to overpower me. hmm... this was not as good as the first one. i mean, there were some funny moments, but the plot was quite..weird and i guess very expected. sometimes they led to something that would probably have been seen as a twist in the movie, but to me i reckon it was just a fail attempt to buy some time, so in other words, they were just unnecessary side stories (such as scarlett johansson's character). and then the end fight was just really lame and over-and-done-with way too quickly, but then i guess the other one was kinda like that too.

anyway, i really hope robin hood is good!!

genius #11: balloons
wow. balloons are amazing. no seriously. we take them for granted so much... i mean, theyre INFLATABLE!! that's just crazy. i was watching this thing on tv, i forgot wat the program was called... maybe 'how does it work?' but there are too many of these types of programs to remember the names of them. anyway, it was showing how they make balloons.

so...by memory... wat they do is they first make the mixture for the rubbery material, and then this is collected in this huge vat sort of thing, and then inverted moulds of balloons are dipped in and out of them, and they have to ensure these are super clean because even the tiniest dust particle will just ruin the balloon. also, they have to ensure that the balloon material is no thicker than....some measurement which i forgot. and then this is heated up in an oven or sumthing, inflated and tested, and printed on (whilst inflated). it's much cooler watching it than reading this, especially because i kind of forgot the entire process. but really, its very very interesting the way they do this kind of stuff and i never realised so much work was invested into such a tiny thing that people take for granted.

it's amazing!
