happy birthday to justin and vincent!
you know how nutritionists say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day?
well, i always wonder...what exactly IS breakfast?
i mean, i know its like the first meal of the day, but if we stick to that definition then no one will ever actually skip breakfast unless they don't eat for that 24-hour period.
what i mean is... let's say i wake up at 10am and i eat weetbix at 1pm purely because i wasn't hungry until then. is that considered breakfast or lunch? it's the first meal of the day, it's a typical breakfast meal, but it was eaten 3 hours after i woke up. at this point in time, is it too late for me to consider that as breakfast? is it now my lunch?
because they always say that breakfast boosts the metabolism.
does that mean that once my metabolism is awake i should eat so that it gets boosted?
i'm really confuzzled here, help me out.
anyway i'm really frustrated with the refs in soccer. i mean, come on, we all saw the germany and england game, or at least the highlights. that was so clear. my mums been complaining that they should get younger refs because 1. the old ones cant keep up with the players, 2. they have bad eyesight, 3. they cant multitask as well.
but okay, the ref couldnt call it a goal if he didnt see it. so we should get video ref next time right? wrong. the fifa dudes are not thinking about video reffing even though there have been SO MANY bad calls in this world cup. i saw one article that said they MIGHT consider it after the finals. geez, a bit late for that yeh?
speaking of soccer, theres this octopus, Octopus Paul, who predicts the winners for each game. hes german and wat happens is they have two jars of mussel in his tank, each with a flag and the jar that paul goes to means that that country wins. well his success rate is 80% (from some 2008 championship) and hes predicted all of germany's games correctly. his latest prediction: win over argentina. hahahaha id relli like to see that.
this site said that the octopus took about an hour to make his decision, meaning that the game might actually end up with a penalty shootout. seriously, i am SO watching that match.
but im not superstitious and still think argentina will win =P
seriously, read the article. very very interesting
genius #17: prisoners and hats puzzle
this is quite old but i just love it.
basically, there are four prisoners about to be executed. but the judge wants to give them a little puzzle:
they are all buried in sand up to their necks in a straight line and can only see ahead of them.
the fourth and last prisoner is infront of a wall that separates him from the other three and as a result he can see no-one and no-one can see him. each prisoner is given a hat to wear, but they cannot see the colour of their hat. there are two white hats and two black hats.
to get out of execution, just one person needs to say the colour of their hat. if he says it wrong, they are all executed. if he says it right, they are all set free. they are not allowed to discuss it among themselves. the first word to be said will be taken as the answer.
who is the one to answer, and how did he logic it out?
note: there are two answers; one easy, one hard.
let me know in the cbox and i shall tell you the answer in the next post (no cheating or spoiling it if you already know the answer!)
diagram to help you, but jumble the colours up a bit (what if its black, white, white, black?)
